The reigning world darts champion is Phil Taylor. He will be bidding for his 14th PDC World Darts Championship, and his 16th world title in all. The winner of the 2011 PDC World Darts Championship will have won six matches along the way. With the exception of the second and third rounds, the number of sets to be played in each round increases by two with every match. That means that while in first round matches the winner is whomever comes out the best of five sets, in the final the winner is decided by whomever is the best of 13 sets.
