Name Of Project: 母語 or Mother's TongueBrief Description of the Project: In the summer of 2009 MM Lee released a statement regarding NMP Viswa Sadasivan's speech within parliament. Through his rebuttal I (and probably other Singaporeans) started questioning the meaning of our national pledge, but more importantly, with my severe lack of proficiency in the Chinese language, why do i have the ability to recite it in Mandarin? Through the film, in revisiting my childhood, I hope to question society and the education system of Singapore.
